Pride and Prejudice is about an England family based in the early 19th century. They are only worried about their daughters and sons getting married into a wealthy family. They could care less if the daughter isn’t truely in love with the man set up for marriage as long as he has money to provide and inherit to the daughter. Luckily that isn’t the way it is these days. However, some are still like that (“gold diggers”), only marrying to inherit the money but now there is actually a little heart in the marriage.
Assignment 7
Superstitions:
I never really believed in superstitions but I do believe in ghosts. Not knowing if there is or isn’t ghosts is just a wonder. I love knowing there is something out in the world that not even scientists can describe!
My family had alot of superstitions but I never really cared for them. My dad was the superstitious one out of the family. He would say break a mirror you get 7 years bad luck. Walk under a ladder you get bad luck. Black cat crosses in front of you while your driving you get bad luck. Jeeze people just want you to be paranoid and make you think your doomed for bad luck forever!!! I don’t believe you get bad luck from these things however, if you grew up believing it then of course your gonna make yourself believe it whether it be true or not.
There are alot of shows on television trying to lure people into believing in the paranormal. Alot of them take place in New England. That place is obviously the most haunted of the world. There are a few places in the United States believed to be haunted. There is the Battle of Ghettysburg location. Alot of places in Savannah Georgia.
Shows about the paranormal include:
Most Haunted
A Haunting
Ghost Adventures… There are tons more shows they come on the travel channel. If your interested in it I recommend Ghost Adventures and not Most Haunted (bunch of bogus stuff).
Assignment 6
In the movie Wizard of Oz there is alot of things that make you think but also things that little kids can understand. There is alot of meaning in each of the characters. The lion went on a quest to the Oz in search of courage. However, all along he had that courage he just didn’t realize it until he was showed by Oz. Then there was the tinman, he wanted to have a heart. To have feelings and be able to care for things like any other human being and animal. However when he was on the path to Oz he experienced those feelings. He cried because he thought Dorothy was going to die. The scarecrow who wanted a brain. He may not have had a brain but he still was pretty smart. He knew how to get everyone out of trouble. That takes brains, something the scarecrow thought he didn’t have. Dorothy just wanted to go home but in the end of the movie it shows that she was home all along and it was all just a dream. Alot of people don’t know what they have until they have to put it to use. Obsticles in our lives will show us what we have and what we do not.
Assignment 4
Effects of the Media
Media’s Ideal Girl/Boy Image/Body
The media’s ideal boy and girl body are pretty much like Barbie and Ken. Flawless.
Changing the appearance/sizes of the men and women on tv and magazines would cause less negative effects in the world.
Alot of models are starving themselves in order to keep the “perfect” body. Athletes take steroids and other drugs in order to stay built.
The media doesn’t have a very good effect on the boys and girls of this world. The media definentally needs to get a new point of view on life before things get more out of control.
Media’s Self Image
Media’s Idea Family/Job/Life/Home
The Media’s idea of a perfect family is the Brady Bunch. They have alot of kids and yet the still seem to be happy? How do they do that?
Having a “perfect” family you have to have a perfect job, and home. It may consist of having a job that pays really well and gives your kids what they want when they want.
The perfect home is a house that is big and elegant, enough to fit all your kids and some more.
With sparky’s little play house in the backyard and a playground to keep your kids occupied.
A big swimming pool to take a dive in on hot summer days.
That my friend is the media’s idea of a perfect life.
However the truth is there isn’t such thing as a “perfect family”.
Nothing is perfect once you think about it.
Everyone has flaws and that’s just what makes us human and if the media doesn’t accept that then their not human.
Their just living in a false world of just lies that they grew up believing.
Not all media is bad. It is just how you look at it.
If you watch the Dove commercials and believe that’s how everyone in the world should look then we’ve got some problems.
BUT if you look at those commercials and know their phony and you live your life doing what you love and not caring what the media is putting out there then were good to go.
Blogging in Class
This would be the first time ever having to use a blog for class. I really like the idea. Using the computer is so much easier than writing it all down on paper. Saving trees
Blogging is simple, I am experienced in this area so yea I like it alot. Some may not like it because it is a little too “high tech” but it’s getting you more prepared for college because you do alot of hands on things like blogging in college (isn’t like I would know).
